Adrenal Crisis...Know the Signs

I have adrenal insufficiency. This is among the best descriptions I've seen to date.  On Christmas Eve, when I was in the ER presenting with acute abdominal pain, I was in crisis.  I'm lucky I survived it, as the doc refused to treat me.  Now I know....acute abdominal or chest pain means an injection.

And note that this isn't as rare as it used to be. If you've hemorrhaged during childbirth (Sheehans Syndrome)....or if you have ever taken corticosteroids for asthma or autoimmune diseases, you could develop secondary AI....know the signs! The only test is a low and high dose cort stim test with a knowledgeable endocrinologist or in my case neuroendocrinologist.

My Badass Journey Back from Adrenal Crisis...Published in The Mighty!

My first published article AFTER the TBI. I used to regularly contribute articles to the publications in home health and hospice....but this is a first....allowing the badass vulnerability to shine through...and a much bigger audience. Perhaps I'm getting my voice.
